    In This Topic

The Shadow Style FX Editor provides visual editing of the properties, that let you define the shadow dropped by an element, based on a mixture of constant property values and expressions. It is shown when you click the FX Button of a shadow property editor.

Following is a description of its properties:

Automatic - specifies whether the shadow style is automatically determined. If this check is checked the entire shadow style editor will be disabled. Uncheck this check if you want to provide a local shadow style value.

Type - Specifies the shadow type as one of the following:

    • Solid - the solid shadow is the most common type of shadow used in applications. It is also the fastest.
    • Linear Blur - the linear blur shadow uses a linear distribution at the shadow edges.
    • Radial Blur - the Radial blur shadow uses a radial distribution at the shadow edges.
    • Gaussian Blur - the Gaussian blur shadow uses a Gaussian distribution (sometimes also called normal distribution) at the shadow edges.

Color - specifies the shadow color.

Fade Area - specifies the length in which the shadow fades to complete transparency (measured in Points). Only applicable for Blur shadows.

X Offset - specifies the X offset of the shadow from its original position. A negative value will cast the shadow on the right side of the object.

Y Offset - specifies the X offset of the shadow from its original position. A negative value will cast the shadow on the top side of the object.

Scale - defines a percentage with which to scale to the shadow shape.
