    Radar Axes
    In This Topic

The Axes page of the currently selected charting type is filled with a single radar axis, in case the currently selected charting type of the chart area is a radar chart (see Chart Areas for more information).

Although represented by a single radar axis, the radar axis model consists of as much axes as there are categories in the radar chart. This means that the chart will automatically create as many radar axes as needed. By doing so it will split the set of these radar axes to one primary and subsequent radar axes for which only category labels are displayed at their tips. All radar axes use numeric scale.

The settings of the primary radar axis are grouped in several tab pages - following is their description:

     General

Visible - defines the visibility of the axis (in fact controls whether all or none of the radar axes is visible)

Orientation - defines the axis orientation. The axis orientation is the side where labels appear when looking at the axis scale from its start point. A typical radar axis will have Left orientation (labels are positioned at its left side). Possible values are:

    Auto - same as Left
Left - the axis will always use left orientation.
Right - the axis will always use right orientation.

Category Labels group - contains settings, which define the position and appearance of the radar category labels. The category labels of a radar chart are extracted from the full labels of the chart report item leaf category members. Following is a description of the properties in this group:

Offset - controls the category labels offset.

Text Style - controls the category labels appearance.

Angle Mode - controls the way in which the category labels are oriented. Possible values are:

View - the Angle setting defines an angle relative to the radar chart view coordinate system.
Scale - the Angle setting defines an angle relative to the category label scale angle.

Angle - defines a rotation relative to the base rotation defined by Angle Mode.

Auto Alignment - defines the text alignment of multi line category labels. When checked multi line category labels will automatically have left, right or center alignment depending on their position relative to the radar rim. For example labels that appear on the left side of the radar will have right aligned text and vice versa. This feature helps to keep the content of category labels closer to the radar rim.

Position Mode - defines how category labels are initially positioned relative to the ray that extends from the radar center point to the radar rim for the specified category. Possible options are:

Center - the category label center point lies on the ray that starts from the radar center point and extends towards the radar rim.

Nearest Point - the category label nearest point to the radar rim lies on the ray starts from the radar center point and extends towards the radar rim.

Fit Mode - controls how radar category labels are fitted. Possible options are:

None - no fitting is performed. The label with retains it's original width based on the specified text and font size.

Wrap - the label will be wrapped so that it does not exceed the width specified by Max Width. This mode allows you to limit the horizontal size of long category labels.

Max Width - specified the maximum width of radar category labels when Fit Mode is set to Wrap.

The radar axis shares a number of common settings related to title, scale, range etc. For a brief description of these settings check out the Common Axis Settings topic.
